The Temperature is -9 Today

November 27, 2006

It is the coldest it has been since we got to Whistler.  There is a bad cold front moving across at the moment and that means the temperature in the valley during the day is -9 degrees celcius.  It is -20 at the peak.  There are warnings on the doors of staff housing warning people to keep their windows shut.  It is very, very cold and very, very snowy.

I still have not managed to get a snowboarding lesson yet due to the fact that it was American Thanksgiving this weekend.  I am going to go up on Friday (next day off) if it kills me.

I have taken some pictures of Whistler on my camera to show everyone what it’s like but stupidly managed not to bring my USB cable with me.  I may try to upload them tomorrow in my lunch break but there will be more photos soon.

November 22, 2006

hey everyone,

I now have a job and the mountain is open. Plus I have a rather large black bruise all up my right arm from slamming on my shoulder on the first day snowboarding.  This day got worse after my 10 hour night cleaning shift was interupted with a migraine half way through.  The evening ended with me delirious with tiredeness. oh well, i had a day of nothing and tomorrow my four days on of night shift starts. im slowly getting my board skills but i’ve learnt the hard way i need lessons and to resepect the mountain.

well i will write again when im less tirred. love to all.

My Birthday

November 13, 2006

Well I had a pretty groovy day yesterday!  I had a whole bunch of presents from Monica and George to open which was exciting.  John bought me a new pair of jeans too.  My friends took me out for dinner to a place called The Old Spaghetti Factory and then a whole bunch of us from Staff Housing went to a club called Garfinkels.  I had a great evening and didn’t end up with much of a hangover either.  Bargin!!

It Rains More Than England!

Tarquin II

November 3, 2006

Although Tarquin passed away this week he will not be forgotten as we have been joined by possibly a member of his family.  I believe we are calling this one Montgomery.  Out go the traps tonight!

On a more positive note winter has begun in Whistler and I am volunteering at the animal shelter as a Cattery Attendent.  Photos are on my site so click the link!
